Hello everyone!

My name is Ashley Neybert and I am a Chemist. I graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri December of 2016. While I am newly blind, I am doing the best I can to pick up on as many new skills and techniques as I can while maybe sharing some as well as if I can say so myself I can be fairly good at problem solving just as I'm sure all of you must be to be in the STEM field.

I currently work at Independence Science as the Curriculum Specialist coming up with accessible laboratory activities as well as some fun demonstration shows that are blind friendly. I am also the current secretary for the NFB of Kansas Student Division.

As I have a passion for making science accessible to all people I also serve on the American Chemical Society's (ACS) National Chemists with Disabilities Committee (CWD). This committee works to help chemists of all disabilities to be able to access science more independently. Working with CWD I have been promoting our new Facebook page which I'll post a link to at the bottom of this paragraph for any of you on Facebook interested in hearing more about science access in Chemistry and potentially even posting you own questions, finding an accessible meeting platform that can host blind, Deaf, and persons with mobility impairments concurrently, as well as looking over some of the potential tactile graphics for the 1st ACS standardized exams in Braille. I have been very honored within ACS as I was also awarded the Women's Chemistry Committee's Overcoming Challenges Award for my efforts of working on my blindness skills as well as keeping with it despite my additional disabilities as well. I have also been invited by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) to help start a disability group there.

I am trying to go to the Colorado Center for the Blind and then later hope to get a Master's and Doctorate in Chemistry to hopefully be a Chemistry Professor. I look forward to meeting you all, getting to know you better, and getting more involved!
