[nfb-talk] Proposal to Decrease Unemployment Among the Blind

I would submit that we've been grappling with this bear for almost 70 years
now and we've not made much of a dent in the sighted misconceptions about
blindness. We've come a long way in raising expectations in our own
community, but the majority of the sighted public at large still views us as
incompetent and stupid. In fact, I would espouse that when it comes to
relations with the mainstream, the disabled are the minority that has come
the least far since the dawn of the modern civil rights era.

I love your idea on the surface Eddie, but in the long run, I fear Dave is
right. The real problem is the myopic view of the sighted public, and I
honestly don't know if that's ever going to change until blindness itself
changes.
