I know my response will be totally off-topic! A SPORT SCAR WITH NO
ENGINE ROAR! Why would anybody who has a brain buy such a thing? And
don't give me the usual ecology hum-bug. Someone should beat the
creator soundly for creating such a travesty.

THANKS, William

Got this from someone on another list.

The new electric Tesla Roadster is becoming available. You may know
it's a high-end electric sports car ($109,000), so there won't be too
many running around, but it's gotten a lot of buzz and the Tesla
people are planning a sedan for the future. It is very quiet to
drive, especially compared to a gasoline sports car -- no engine roar.

I'm bumping this second link on to you because a customizing company
has created an even more high-end version of the Tesla and one of the
things they've added is an engine noise generator, so it can be done.
