[nfb-talk] Here We Go Again

Bryan,

I think blind people have to be willing to start somewhere. Does it take
more time at first? Certainly. People have not denied this, but your
rhetoric would make us believe that the initial extra time makes the
occupation not even worth considering. The only way anyone ever gets good
at anything is through time and practice, and if people never try to start
somewhere, the would-be employers will never be willing to give people a
chance. If I may ask, what field do you work in, and how difficult was it
for you to instill confidence in your employers to give you a fair shake?
I'm not challenging you as much as hoping to help you see that we should not
lay out blanket statements that might otherwise discourage people from
pursuing their chosen line of work the same way you would not have wanted
others to discourage you from your chosen field.

Regards,

Joe

some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all."--Sam Ewing

don't know what you are talking about but seems like there are
far more that
don't want to accept the fact that alternative techniques to
accomplish the
same task as a sighted builder will take more time.
