Dear Joe,

No they don't if they are given training.  You forget that horses have been 
used in combat situations for centuries and can be trained to ignore such 
things as explosions, cars and traffic, an example being the New york 
Mounted Police horses.
Any animal can be fritened under the right circumstances, but training can 
control this.
Horses do have good judgement and this is where the term,"good horse sense," 
comes from.
