That's why I still don't like email in the cloud!

Thought I'd chime in with my thoughts. Just because you have your own
domain doesn't mean at all that your safe from spammers. Also, I don't
see how a static IP would help with that either. That means the address
never changes. If they figure out the password into your account,
regardless of if it's a domain or if it is hosted by yahoo or gmail or
whoever you use, anyone can send out emails using your email address.
All they need is a password, and access to the hosting providers website
to log in and send it via webmail, or if they have the settings onhand,
enter them into Thunderbird/outlook and their you go, instant access to
your emails, and they can send out. I also fail to see how a shell
would help either, as that all depends on how locked down your shell
is. I don't know how knowledgable you are with linux, so I won't say
anything, because you may know more than I do, but a strong password is
a good place to start. In regards to the scammers deleting all of your
emails, they got access to the account, logged in, and deleted them
all. No mystery their. That's why whenever I'm done reading my emails,
if I need to save something, it goes into a notepad window, and into my
documents folder, or onto a jump drive for later use, and everything
else gets deleted. This is mainly because what I get is of no
importance for me to keep.
Mike.
