yes contracting employees pass a certification test here too. My point being 
that most of them have college degrees and some have masters degrees too; 
oky not required, but you will have a better chance of working if you got a 
degree

Hello Ashley and everyone,

Not here in Texas. There are adaptive tech trainers with college degrees and
those with only a firm grounding in the use of adaptive technology
particularly the computer access systems they will be training others to
use. If they wish to contract with the Texas Division of Blind Services
(DBS) they need to pass a state certification. I know because I have such a
certification with no college degree. It's best to check with the agency or
organization for whom you wish to work to find out their exact requirements
for adaptive technology trainers.

Well, most adaptive tech instructors do have a degree such as in I T or
computer science or education. It will only help you to have such a degree;
most applicants will. All instructors the state agency contracts with or
directly employs at the rehab center have a college education.

Hello David,

The qualifications for this job only tell that the applicant who is applying
requires only a high school diploma to perform this job. Does this mean that
the instructor needs to have no knowledge of teaching / education /
blindness or TVI field? I thought someone with a college degree is most
likely to shine very well at this job, and also someone with some education
degree or certificate, or with a license that tells he is fit for this job.
Does this mean that holding a position in teaching adaptive technology for
the blind needs no college degree? I ask these questions because, in fact,
this is my intended / hoped career of my choice, becoming a teacher of the
blind in assistive technology. This is why I'm starting college,  and going
in pursuit of a major in special ed and minor in iT.
