Jim,

Have you looked at Judy Dixon's book about taking pictures as a blind person? It's available from National Braille Press. I think it's called Picture It.

Hi Jim:
When I've successfully done it I had my daughter stand behind me to tell me where my focus was. After a while I got comfortable with where the camera had to be pointed. At first I tended to point the camera down too much so it was a matter of adjusting to exact vertical.
When you're taking pictures of humans the camera app will tell you when there are faces visible so that helps.
If you're not sure, take several pictures and sort them out later. Like I said, at first I was simply pointing the camera too low.
Perhaps having a few beers will help you relax.

Good morning everyone,

This seems to be a great resource with several folks who can advise me well.
I'm going to be taking a vacation that I've been planning for a while.
As with all vacations, people enjoy taking and looking at pictures to share with others. I've got an iPhone 7 with the latest IOS, and I'm totally blind.
Are there good ways or methods for taking decent pictures or selfies without always having to ask a sighted person to do it for you?
Much of the time, I'll be with other blind people as well.
Any good tips or resources for taking pictures would be much appreciated.
Can one just use the general camera app or is there a better app for that?
Thanks.
Jim
