Love it Ben. Thanks for putting forth this suggestion. I believe Brad
already addressed this, but I greatly appreciate you sharing what another
chapter is doing to support the community. #Philosophy

Tanner and all,

One of the cool ways in which another chapter of which I'm a part realizes
this goal is something called the Caring Fund. The treasurer sets apart a
fund within the chapter's treasury, and when someone is in need, they
contact the president, the treasurer or one of the board members who will
then facilitate some of that money to the person. It's really cool, and it's
a good way of putting this sort of New year's goal, as I call it, into
practice.

Thanks,

Ben

Howdy Phoenix Chapter Members

I hope everyone had a very nice New Year's weekend.

I've got some exciting news to share with you, but first, I wanted to share
something that's been on my mind.

The New Year is a special time for many of us. It's a time that signifies a
new beginning. A new opportunity to create the change you'd like to see, to
be, and to experience. What resolutions are you working toward?

All this is great, but some of our members, and some individuals who aren't
members, may be struggling right now. They may have experienced hardship,
heart ache, or may be pushing through tough times. We often don't realize,
or maybe we forget, how far small acts of kindness go.

Each act of kindness we give to others, each time we go out of our way,
serves as an opportunity to spread cheer. To lift up the spirits, and the
outlook, of those around us. These are the people of our communities. These
are our neighbors. These are also our fellow federationists.

I challenge you to find an opportunity to be kind to someone in your life.
Even if it's a stranger. Because, they'll be happier, you'll be happier, and
we'll continue to support those in need. So, if you'd like to join me in
this resolution I'm proposing to our chapter members, here it is.

Within each moment, I will look for the opportunities to perform a random
act of kindness to those I love, those I just know, and those that I don't.

Now, let's talk about the exciting news for this month's chapter meeting.

As always, same great time, same great place.

4222 E Thomas Rd at SAAVI

9:30AM the 1st Saturday of every month. This month, that's this Saturday,
the 6th.

Next, Richard Sorie will be stopping by to deliver a presentation for our
chapter. He's the latest upper-level hire at VR, and historically has done
great work in Virginia and Iowa.

Rich is neutral on NFB, AFB, or ACB matters, but his wife has historically
been an active NFB member in the aforementioned states. And guess what.
We'll be welcoming both with open arms this Saturday. I hope you will join
us.

Also, Rich will be opening up the floor for a Q and A session following his
presentation. If you'd like to ask him a question, any question about VR,
the support you've gotten, or questions related to VR and blind services,
you'll have your chance to ask him these questions.

But what if you want to remain anonymous? We can help you do that. Just
reply to this email with your question, and we will do our best to ask it,
time permitting. But, most importantly, you can submit a question, remain
anonymous, and still get your question answered.

We've already got another guest lined up in the pipeline for February's
chapter meeting, and I can't wait to make that announcement when we lock
that down. But, for now, please send in your questions if you'd like to
remain anonymous, or you would like our chapter's leadership to ask the
question on your behalf, just reply to this email and shoot it over.
Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday

Tanner Gers
