Hi Phoenix, West Valley and Tucson,

Please inform yourself on this legislation. This was brought to our attention today by Mary Hartle at our East Valley chapter meeting. I have also forwarded a copy to Donald Porterfield. This is regarding cuts to insurance. I need to read more into this as well but thought this was pertinent to share immediately.

Thank you.

> I am sending this to you for 2 reasons:
>
> 1. In case you are on AHCCCS, Congress is planning to make massive cuts to Medicaid funding. I know you are starting work; however, since you may not make as much money at first, you might be able to stay on AHCCCS for awhile longer. Also, there is a specila program for persons with disabilities, called Freedom to Work that allows an individual to earn up to $52,000 and still receive AHCCCS coverage.
> 2. I would like this brought up at the chapter meeting this Saturday in case others in the chapter are on Medicaid.
> We need to call Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain and tell them why Medicaid is vital to their health.

> If you receive Medicaid (also called AHCCCS), a volunteer will help you write your story so you can email it to Senators McCain and Flake, explaining what Medicaid does for you and how it would affect your life if the Senate votes to make drastic cuts to Medicaid.
>
> In TEN DAYS, the Senate will be voting on a bill that would make huge cuts to Medicaid. The House has already passed a bill that would:
> Cut Medicaid by over $800 billion in 10 years
> End the Medicaid expansion, causing millions to lose coverage
> Force states to cut Medicaid services, such as home and community services that help people with disabilities live in the community instead of institutions
> Please email our Advocacy Specialist AS SOON AS POSSIBLE with your NAME AND PHONE NUMBER if you or a family member receive Medicaid (AHCCCS) and will share your story. A volunteer will call you to write it up to send to Senators McCain and Flake. If our Senators hear from enough people, they are much more likely to vote against cutting Medicaid. Three Republican Senators need to vote against the bill to defeat it, and we Arizonans can help get two of the three votes to save Medicaid.
