> As many of you know, Arlen Keen passed away due to his third bout of bone cancer on February 12th. Arlen has been a long time federation us and has been very active in both the Phoenix and West valley chapters since 1996. He also graduated from the Colorado Center for the Blind in 1998.And a few years ago was reconnected with the love of his life, Teresa Sanchez. In the years that I have known Arlen, he was heavily involved in in raising funds for the Phoenix chapter and encouraging others to be involved in The Federation.
>
> Although Arlen was too sick to attend our Christmas party, we elected to present Arlen with the Norma Robertson-Wagner award. Arlen went above and beyond in anything that he put his mind to; setting up dinner fundraisers to a bowl-a-thon, it is these fundraisers that were able to help our chapter members to attend state and national conventions.
>
> A memorial will be held on March 2 from 2 o’clock till 5 o’clock at the Life Way, Church in Buckeye. However, we recognize that getting out to Buckeye is very difficult. Therefore, we will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday, March 9 at Rodney Fletcher‘s restaurant at 1010 West Washington in Phoenix. we are moving our March meeting from the first Saturday of March to the ninth and we will follow the meeting with Arlen‘s celebration of life and then a spaghetti fundraiser. What better way to salute our friend then to raise funds for the chapter. We will have more details to come.
