Dear President Willows:

Thank you for posting this. Until just recently, I was seriously considering
removing myself from this list serve. I have always found it informative,
with the various topics that had been posted. However, in recent months,
there have been more and more political posting that I feel do not belong on
this list serve, and now you have made it possible to remain on it (for now)
and contribute whenever I deem fit.

Thanks for reinforcing the philosophy of the NFB and regulations of what can
and cannot be posted to this list serve. Those who post need to understand
that everyone is entitled to their privacy regarding political affiliations,
and there are times that a particular posting may offend or infringe on
one's beliefs. Again, thanks for listening.

Eileen

Good evening Eric and listers:
According to the constitution of the National Federation of the Blind of
California, Article XIV, Prohibited Activities. Not withstanding any other
provision of these articles, this organization shall not carry on any other
activities not permitted to be carried on (A) by an organization exempt from

Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of

1954 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal
Revenue Law) for (B) by an organization contributions to which are
deductable under section 170 (c)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (or

the corresponding provision of any future United States Revenue Law).
Substantial part of the activities of this organization shall consist of
carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation,
and the organization shall not participate or intervene in any political
campaign (including the publishing or distribution of statements) on behalf
of any candidate for public office.

In other words, the NFBC does not participate in campaigns for people and
will not support candidates. We strive to educate the public on issues
effecting the blind. We are changing what it means to be blind by our
individual and collective voice. Please address only issues concerning the
blind when posting to this list.

Thank you.
