Please RSVP now if you haven't done so. You will have a chance to meet and
hear the incredible stories of these blind and low-vision individuals who
did not let their blindness get in their way of achieving their dreams: Mike
May, CEO and President of Sendero Group, the GPS company - Developers of the
first accessible GPS and talking map software for the blind; Louis Posen,
founder of Hopeless Records, one of the most prominent independent record
labels in the U S; Jake Olson, a 14-year-old young man who did not let his
blindness stop his love for sports and other activities he enjoys doing;
Ever Lee Hairston, a retired Program Director of the Dept. of Health and
Human Services who will share with us information about the NFB Youth Slam-a
five-day STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) leadership
academy; and Julian Vargas, a Portable Assistive Technology Specialist with
extensive knowledge and experience in the use of accessible cell phones and
other portable devices. We also have invited vendors of assistive technology
like Freedom Scientific, Enhanced Vision and other companies who can give
you demonstrations on the latest technologies that are available. Lunch will
be provided so your RSVP is really needed.

Take the World

The world is yours for the taking. Dare to dream big, you can accomplish
just about anything you desire. Being visually impaired is not a limiting
factor or the end of the world. In fact, blindness is but a mere nuisance, a
bump in the road, not something that should in any way hinder your ability
to live a full, happy, satisfying and productive life. The San Fernando
Valley Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of California invites
you to join us for an opportunity to meet and listen to some very successful
and inspiring people who didn't let their blindness get in the way of
pursuing their goals and dreams. You'll also have an opportunity to meet
with several vendors of the latest Assistive Technology solutions for blind
and low vision users. They can answer questions and provide hands on
experience with these devices.
