Teacher, Orientation and Mobility for the Blind 

Department of Rehabilitation

The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) is recruiting for two positions- a
Full-Time Permanent and a Permanent Intermittent Teacher, Orientation and
Mobility for the Blind, to train adult DOR/BFS consumers needing orientation
and mobility in a residential setting at the DOR's Orientation Center for
the Blind (OCB), located at 400 Adams Street, Albany, CA 94706.  The
Teacher, Orientation and Mobility for the Blind, introduces concepts and
skills to OCB participants that lead to safe and independent non-visual
orientation and travel to support daily living skills, participants'
preparation for returning home to their community, and to achieve
independence and/or gainful employment. 

The Teacher, Orientation and Mobility for the Blind, reports to the OCB
Administrator in the DOR.  The DOR works in partnership with consumers and
other stakeholders to provide services and advocacy resulting in employment,
independent living, and equality for individuals with disabilities.  

Essential information

The position classification is Teacher, Orientation and Mobility for the
Blind, with a monthly base salary range of $3825.00-$6648.00. The

Desirable Qualifications: Empathetic, understanding, and a willingness to
work with people with disabilities, good written and verbal communication
skills, the willingness and ability to behave with integrity and
professionalism in a manner consistent with DOR policies and CalHR
regulations.

Time Base, Tenure, 

.       Full-time, Permanent month(s),

.       Permanent Intermittent - (Candidate should have the ability to work
a flexible schedule, to include weekdays throughout the calendar year.
Position may require that a candidate works one day per week or up to 30
hours a week for consecutive weeks. Not to exceed 1500 hours in a calendar
year.)
