Illinois Braille Readers Are Leaders (iBRAL) Contest

for Blind Youth of Illinois



When:  January 4, 2014 through February 15, 2014



The National Federation of the Blind of Illinois (NFBI) is pleased to 
announce the Illinois Braille Readers Are Leaders contest. Contestants 
compete against their same-age peers to read the most Braille pages during 
the six-week reading period. The contest encourages children in grades K-12 
to be proud of their ability to read Braille, and to continually work to 
improve their skills while winning prizes in the process.



Important Dates
·        December 1, 2013: registration for the contest opens.

·        January 4, 2014: Louis Braille’s birthday marks the beginning of 
the contest and the first day participants can count their pages.

·        February 15, 2014: the end of the contest and the last day 
participants can count their pages. The last day contestants can submit a 
registration form.

·        February 28, 2014: the reading log must be submitted to the NFBI by 
midnight.

·        March 15, 2014: prizes are mailed out.
