Actually conventions are scheduled a few years ahead of time due to the
large number of attendees. While it would be nice to have a convention on
the west coast hotel rates in the cities you mentioned are the highest
during the summer months and this is a factor that is considered when
negotiating the best rate or deal that the Federation can get in providing
accommodations to such a large number of attendees. I'm sure that west coast
cities are considered but summer is tourist season in the cities you
mentioned with the highest room rates in season.

Subject: [Nfbc-info] Discussion

Hello all,
I am writing to you all to get the discussion juices flowing about an item
that will come up and be mentioned at our upcoming national convention in
Orlando. I have been hearing that this is the last year of the national
Federation of the blind's contract at Rosen resorts. This and very happy
about, because I do not see any reason why the West Coast cannot host a
national convention. I mean after all we have Los Angeles Sacramento San
Francisco Oakland, Las Vegas, and Reno some of the biggest cities in the
nation. What do you guys think about bringing 2018, and 2019 national
Federation of the blind national conventions to the West Coast? I mean come
on guys I would love that if we could bring that together, and pull it off.
