Dear Marvin:

Did your friend have the same problem when he used Windows XP?
And what kind of webcam is he using?

I am currently using a TOSHIBA Satellite M45-S169 with Windows XP SP3. I
have a webcam by Logitech, it is a combination camera with microphone
plug-&-play USB device.
There was no need for me to install anything via CD and it works
wonderfully.

Also, when you did the search on Google and TOSHIBA lists, what were the
models being complained about (just wondering)?

Good Luck.
