[nfbcs] External disk drive

Tracy,

I would start to get suspicious that something is defective.  Have you tried this drive on another computer, and have you tried other cables?  As far as I know, most 
drives come formatted and usually contain some documentation and sometimes some demo programs.  Do you hear or feel the drive spinning up when you connect 
it?  If you know the name of the drive, you might try Google to see if anything turns up, but it almost sounds as though there is a hardware problem of some kind.
