[nfbcs] asp question

Hello, Brian,

I use IIS to view and test websites. What you need to do to see localhost
is the following:

Go to Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->
Internet Information Services.

This will take you to a dialog box with a tree view with the top node being
"Internet Information Services", which should be open. If not, pres your
right arrow key to open it.

Press your Down Arrow which will show your local computer. Press Right
Arrow again, then Down Arrow. That will put you on Websites.

Another Right Arrow Down Arrow combination will be the Default Website node.
Right Arrow one more time, then Down Arrow until you hear the name of your
application.

Next, using the context menu, select Properties. There will be three tabs
you will need to work with.

The first is the Directories tab. Press Shift+Tab until you hear either a
Create button or a Remove button (either five or six times). If you hear
Create, press it. Then continue to press Shift+Tab three more times and
make sure there is text in the Application Name textbox (preferably your
app's name).

Next, press Ctrl+Tab to go to the Documents tab. Press Tab twice to go into
a listbox and using your Up and down Arrow keys, make sure your app's start
page is in the list (either Default.asp for classic ASP or Default.aspx for
ASP.net). If not, tabbing once more will put you on an Add button. Select
it and enter the appropriate page name.

Finally, press Shift+Ctrl+Tab twice to go to the ASP.net tab, and make sure
the correct version of ASP.net is selected.

Once it is, tab down to the OK button, then close the IIS dialog. You
should then be able to test your app under localhost.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Ryan Stevens
