[nfbcs] Can MS outlook 2003 read messages automatically as I arrow up/down in the message list?

You do not need to open it. Is Jaws set to echo highlighted - use JawsKey S to toggle.

jin order to learn anything about a message (who it's from, subject, etc) I need to open it?
