[nfbcs] VPN advice?

Can anyone give me some VPN advice?  I have a call into the Helpdesk but
my office's VPN guy is probably on vacation.
This morning, I updated my version of Microsoft .net framework, and
immediately VPN stopped running.  It has the error
SocketTransport_error_connect.
If anyone can tell me how to resolve this, I'd be mighty grateful.
And if anyone can tell me how I can determine beforehand what VPN won't
like, that'd be great, too.  I mean, I updated a *Microsoft program, for
Pete's sake!
