If I recall rightly, the prototype wasn't really a prototype but more like a
mock-up.

Subject: [nfbcs] Cheaper braille displays
I got an announcement from NBP last summer, saying they were coming out with
a prototype of a braille display that would be less expensive than what's
out now. They were going to show it at the convention, but I wasn't at
convention, and no one I know who was saw any prototype. Does anyone know
anything about this? NBP is a reputable organization, and, if they said
they have a prototype braille display, I'd take it more seriously than other
announcements of that ilk.
