Okay, I don't know why I never thought of that one, especially since I
launch JAWS that way all the time.

Nicole,

You raise a good point, and I have to add with a smile that installing JAWS
was never the issue here.  I have found that opening the "Run" dialog with
Windows R and typing the word "Narrator" has always worked to start Narrator
for me although I don't have experience with Windows 8.
