[nfbcs] Linux Installation without help?

I speak for myself only. I am totally blind and for the years I've used
Linux I've done most of the installations without sighted assistance.
The two exceptions were Redhat 5.00 a long time ago and Ubuntu.
Sometimes acbradio main menu program has demonstrations of linux installs
and sometimes mp3 files of linux install demonstrations are available. to
get this done. Most of my linux use is command line only and I prefer it
that way, graphical user interfaces are an additional hassle to install
and require very rich hardware setups to work due to accessiblity
requirements and gnome having massive memory footprint requirements.
Most of the equipment I've used Linux on has been ancient by existing
technology standards so consequently normally low end. If you want to get
your feet wet and can hear and have a spare hard drive and a multimedia
computer available I recommend a stock debian dvd. When you boot that dvd
and your computer has to have dvd as first thing searched for not the hard
drive, the dvd will beep if all is working up to that point. Have a
working internet connection up before booting too. When the dvd beeps,
hit the letter s then hit enter. Then you wait a few seconds and make
sure you can hear the sound card. Debian has the shortest installation
instructions for accessible install and this should be enough to get you
into a speaking install. On Sat, 18 Oct 2014, Ian C. Bray via nfbcs
