It should always show extensions. Something is not quite right. Did you find
the apply button in the view tab? If you want to pursue this, perhaps we can
connect our two computers together with JAWS<smile>.

I closed Windows Explorer a few times, and now it is showing file extensions
for most files, though not all.  Weird, but probably as good as I can get.
