[nfbcs] Counting parentheses

It probably doesn't help much, but I typically just keep count in my head. If it is too complicated to do that, I will often rearrange the SQL statement into multiple lines with the contents of each set of parentheses indented another level. I can then very easily see, by the change in indentation where I may need to close a parentheses block. This works, of course, because my editor informs me about indentation level changes.

Failing that, if the Abacus works for you, then why not get A few more, so that you're  more likely to have one when you need one?
