[nfbcs] Accessible books of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Image Processing

Good question, and I am also curious to know the answer. Also, how have you
found the accessibility of mathematical equations in electronic books
obtained from publishers? When I was in school, the mathematical content of
these books was not accessible, and my disability support services office
had to transcribe the books into braille. I haven't gotten many math books
from Bookshare, but the ones I have gotten did not have accurate Nemeth
equations in them. It has been my experience that finding books with
accessible mathematical content is a huge challenge. Now that I am out of
school and can no longer get transcribed materials from disability support
services, I am pretty much out of luck for obtaining accessible technical
books aside from using Learning Ally. It's very difficult for me to learn
mathematical concepts from an audio book, so I'm not a big fan of using
Learning Ally's technical books. I would love to hear if anyone has reliable
sources for accessible STEM materials that a non-student can use.

Thanks,
Alysha

you stated
"Most of Prentice-Hall and Pearson's books are readily available in
electronic format, but you need an official from disability services to
acquire that for you. "
will an official from disability services request a book for a person if it
is job related and not school related?
thanks.

Did not know about the service you are talking about. I am a blind engineer
working in R&D I need a text now and again can I also use such a service or
is it just for stoodents.
thanks.

Most of Prentice-Hall and Pearson's books are readily available in
electronic format, but you need an official from disability services to
acquire that for you. I see you are in India and I don't know how things
work there, but here in the U.S., the student would contact Pearson or its
state representative and request the book for a particular blind student.

I do this in my job several times a week. Here in California we have an
agency we do the requests through, because the publishers want to send their
ebooks to a central, authorized repository for students with print
disabilities. That's also true in some other states. I can however contact
publishers directly if the agency is slow to process my request or I am in a
state that doesn't have such a service for colleges.

If you are your college's official, then contact the publishers directly;
both of them have online forms you fill out to certify that you are indeed
officially acting on the part of a student. Again, rules for India might be
different.

Another possibility is Learning Ally. These kinds of books will be filled
with visual elements, diagrams and charts that need to be described.
Learning Ally does describe images, though there quality is uneven. Neither
Bookshare nor Learning Ally, being library services require you own the
printed textbook; publisher requests require either a proof of purchase or
proof that your agency has one on file.

To avoid potential copyright issues, check with Bookshare if you don't want
to purchase the titles you are seeking.

Dear members,

Hope you are doing great.

Do you have a copy of the following books- 1. Stuart Russell & Peter Norvig,
Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach, Prentice-Hall, Third Edition
(2009) 2. Rafael C. Gonzalez & Richard E. Woods, Digital Image Processing,
Pearson Education.

If you have, will it be possible to provide them to me? or can you provide
me any other book related with above topics?
