I heard that SwiftPlayground (from Apple) and Quorum, using Sodbeans, are accessible. Has anyone tired using these for learning to program?

Then, the teacher told me that we use Notepad plus plus for coding. Do I do more CodeBase work? If anybody had to suggestions please let me know, as school starts on Tuesday and I'm really not sure what to do.
