[nfbcs] The Future of Technology: A Journey

I don't understand the repeated statements that the ADA has no
resolution for it. When I go to a site like
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americans_with_Disabilities_Act_of_1990 I
see quite a few cases that were settled on behalf of the person bringing
suit against a company due to violations in the ADA. Maybe the penalties
aren't strong enough, but it seems a bit extreme to say that the ADA has
no resolution for it all.

On the broader topic, I think it goes both ways. Discrimination
obviously exists and it needs to be addressed. As long as discrimination
exists, blind people will have to work harder and face more limitations
and challenges then their sighted counterparts.

That being said, there are blind people who have been successful in the
current climate, and their are other blind people who feel entitled and
mask their own efficiencies in the cloak of discrimination.

IMHO, ultimately blind people should have the same rights and the same
ability to go into a profession of their choosing as anyone else. They
should also be held to the same standards of performance as their peers.

More people are denied work because of disability, age, and other protected classes set out by the ADA and EEOC. With a blog to convince blind people to get out and contribute, more employers might think we are lazy and can't do much. Besides, performing research doesn't pay the bills.

I have created a blog of essays, algorithms, and anything related to computer science. The goal is to show the world that blind people can have a voice in computer science. The link is:
