debugging?

Afternoon:

I am charged with debugging .net programs. Some of these are old, asp, code
while others are new, MVC standard. I have access to the code as well as the
running program. I know you are going to say, go where the error is. Mt
problem is having to understand so many levels of code, C# 4 through C# 4.7.
If it is a database problem, I know you would start with the database. In
addition, I know that when it is a form or display problem, you need to go
and look at that. People store logon information using various techniques
and security authentication information is stored various ways. What would
you suggest as a place to begin?
