There is a blind R Users Group. We host their list here, 
blindrug-request at nfbnet.org and subscribe on subject line to join, or 
go to: http://www.nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/blindrug_nfbnet.org and 
join list. R, if you do it right, is apparently quite accessible.
