Jim:

I urge you to call the Microsoft Disability Answer Desk. Also, check your audio settings, It is sometimes the case that there is a separate audio for earbuds which you might have to switch to manually.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Subject: [nfbcs] Odd computer situation

Good morning,

While I realize this doesn’t necessarily have to do with blindness, it is still a weird computer issue, so I thought I’d ask about it.

I recently obtained a MicroSoft Surface Go, which I love and am using more than my usual laptop. However, this morning, I was using it with ear buds, and all of a sudden, I was no longer hearing JAWS through my ear buds but rather it was back through the speaker. Obviously, it was more than JAWS...It was the audio that was no longer coming through the buds. I shut down and unplugged the buds, plugged them back in and turned the tablet on again, and it was the same deal where the audio was coming through the speaker as if the ear buds weren’t plugged in.
I should just get a bluetooth ear piece for it, but until then, why do you guys think this might be happening?
I’ve seen something very similar with another laptop, but after a while, the audio came back to the ear buds, or at least, the computer recognized that the ear buds were plugged in.
I hope this happens with this little tablet. I sure do like it and like how well it works for me.
Any ideas or suggestions would be super!
Thanks.
Jim
