[NFBCS] Is Audacity Accessible with JAWS

Nicole,

There is an Audasity for the Blind list, and I just saw there that there is a guide for that program for JAWS users at

http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-2.3.2-Guide.html

and this might be a way to get acquainted with the program quickly. I have not checked out this guide, but the people on that list seem to be knowledgeable so it is worth a check. Possibly it is more detailed than you need, though.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Perfect. I will let you know how it goes and ask if I have any
questions.

Dear Nicole,

To answer your question, Yes, JAWS works very well with Audacity for
Windows. In fact, Audacity has a lot of really useful built-in shortcut
keys that can be used for operating it. For example, to start a recording,
you would hit just the letter R. to stop the recording, you'd press the
space bar, and to pause the playback or recording, you'd hit letter P. quite
simple.

The menus are very accessible, and when you explore them all of the hot keys
are available there. Heck-you can even select audio with the arrow keys, and
you can hit space to listen to the current selection of audio or the audio
from cursor to end.

All of this with no scripts required.

Hope this helps a bit. If you have more questions, please ask.

Best,

Humberto

I have a couple of different choices for a project, and Audacity
is one of them. Is Audacity accessible with JAWS?

Thanks,

Nicole
