[NFBCS] Jaws is Not a Virus

Jim,

I think I would start by asking your employer what they use to validate other software is not a virus. If they have a corporate virus checker, that should find any viruses including anything that somehow came in due to JAWS. You could ask Vispero for a statement of how they prevent viruses from coming in through their scripts. I know that a number of the larger virus scanning companies have made changes to not cause JAWS and Window-Eyes when it was around to not be seen as viruses. Your employer's reaction seems strange to me, though, because virtually any software they buy is proprietary. I know some corporations have frowned upon the use of NVDA because it is considered an open source project, but even that is pretty widely accepted now.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Subject: [NFBCS] Jaws is Not a Virus

Hello.
Our employment specialist has run across a barrier which I thought had disappeared a long long time ago.
A company is Leary about installing Jaws because they are afraid that the infrastructure and proprietary software on their systems will be compromised.
I m in search of any scholarly or other kinds of documentation that will help to alleviate this kind of arbitrary nonsense, I have searched in vain so far, but any pointers in this direction would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks.
