Thank you for the PuTTY update. Access to these programs are a programmers
dream come true. While access was available via other means, having access
using JAWS right out of the box is awesome. This opens doors to things like
cross-network access to Linux and other internetwork related machines. 

The Notepad++ has long been used by programmers to program in several
computer languages. It is one of the few open source editors that has
attachments for various languages like HTML, c#, JAVA and JAVA script,
Assembly, Fortran, and many other languages. While it is not as friendly as
Visual Studio, it is also not as intrusive as VS or doesn't require nearly
the space on your hard drive. In addition, Notepad++ has been ported to many
countries; as has JAWS. It can be used as a simple, more powerful,  text
editor and is FREE.

Once again, thanks for taking this valuable step and I hope others recognize
the doors that are now open to ALL users and programmers alike.

Although I'm about to mention several features in terms of speech, be
assured that Braille supports them as well.

Notepad++ is an extremely powerful open source editor for text files, source
code, HTML and lots of other things. It's not as fully featured as an IDE
like Visual Studio, but it's far more functional than just plain Notepad.
Starting with the June update, JAWS properly supports all the expected
Notepad++ editing features, including contracted Braille input.
In addition, when Notepad++ is set to display line numbers, JAWS reads the
number prior to the contents of each line. (This can be disabled in
Notepad++ Options/Preferences on the Editing page.) After you've enabled
Notepad++ autocompletion (it's off by default), JAWS will automatically read
the active suggestion and allow you to arrow up and down through other
possibilities.

PuTTY and SecureCRT are both popular terminal emulators. PuTTY is
open-source and free. SecureCRT is a commercial product with an impressive
list of features.
JAWS support for both of these was badly broken and now works as you'd
expect.
The caret tracks correctly and newly written text is automatically spoken.
If you're in an editor and the  auto speaking of text becomes annoying, you
can temporarily toggle it off with JawsKey+s. If you want it off
permanently, go into SettingsCenter for PuTTY or SecureCRT and set
ScreenEcho to something other than Speak All Text.
