La Página Cibernética Inaccesible de Administración de la Pequeña empresa,
SBA, Discrimina en Contra de los Ciegos



Baltimore, Maryland (22 de julio del 2009): La Federación Nacional de

Ciegos, la organización más antigua, y más grande de gente ciega,

principal en abogacía para la igualdad de acceso por los ciegos a la
tecnología de la

información, y Virgil Stinnett, propietario ciego del negocio en

Honolulu, Hawaii, entabló una queja administrativa hoy con

la Administración de la Pequeña Empresa, (SBA). La queja afirma que la

página Cibernética de SBA, viola la Sección 508 del Acto de la
Rehabilitación, Debido a que

es inaccesible a la gente ciega que utiliza la pantalla de texto a parlante
a fín de tener

acceso a la tecnología o a las exhibiciones de Braille para la información
del acceso en

el Internet. Debido

a la inaccesibilidad de la página Cibernética de SBA, la gente

Ciega no puede llenar formularios en el sitio, o tomar cursos en línea

ofrecidos por el SBA. El señor Stinnett no puede solicitar

certificación bajo Sección 8 (a) del Acto de la Pequeña Empresa, SBA, debido
a

la inaccesibilidad de la página cibernética. La certificación de la Sección
8 (a)

proporcionaría al negocio del señor  Stinnett con acceso a los mercados

federales y privados de la consecución.



El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos,

dijo: "Los Norte Americanos ciegos tienen los mismos sueños, las mismas
metas, y el

mismo espíritu emprendedor que el resto de los Norte Americanos. Si vamos a
tener

igualdad de acceso a las herramientas y las técnicas necesarias para ser

propietarios de negocios eficaces, y para competir en términos de igualdad
con nuestros socios

videntes, debemos tener igualdad de acceso a los recursos ofrecidos en la

página Cibernética de SBA, y otros sitios del gobierno. La Federación
Nacional de

Ciegos exije la igualdad para los propietarios ciegos de negocios, y no
tolerará

nada menos."



Virgil Stinnett, dueño de Good News HI, un negocio que proporciona servicios

de comida militares, dijo: "Cómo empresario ciego, el acceso a la
