Estimados Amigos:

Las personas ciegas y con discapacidad para acceder material impreso en los 
Estados

Unidos y en todo el mundo necesitan su ayuda para
aliviar la escasez de libros en todo el mundo que nos

impide  a nosotros recibir una educación, el logro
de empleo,  y participar plenamente en la sociedad.
La Organización Mundial de la Propiedad está
considerando un tratado que pondría más libros
a disposición de las personas ciegas y con discapacidad para acceder 
material impreso en
el mundo mediante la promoción de una excepción a
la ley de derechos de autor que permite que libros se produzcan en
formatos especiales como el Braille para ser compartidos
a través de las fronteras internacionales. Este tratado es
llamado el Tratado de los Ciegos o el Tratado

VIP. Desgraciadamente, los editores, grandes medios de comunicación, y
otros con derechos como General Electric, y Caterpillar,
algunos de los cuales, no tienen nada que ver con la
publicación de libros en absoluto, están complicando las
negociaciones en un intento de diluir o matar
el tratado. Ustedes pueden ayudar mediante el envío de un fuerte
mensaje de que apoyan un tratado que ayuda a los

Dear Friends:

Blind and print-disabled people in the United
States and across the world need your help to
relieve the worldwide book famine that prevents
us from receiving an education, attaining
employment, and fully participating in society.
The World Intellectual Property Organization is
considering a treaty that would make more books
available to blind and print-disabled people all
over the world by promoting an exception to
copyright law allowing books to be produced in
special formats like Braille and to be shared
across international borders. This treaty is
called the Treaty for the Blind or the VIP
Treaty. Unfortunately, publishers, big media, and
other rights holders like GE and Caterpillar,
some of whom have nothing to do with the
publishing of books at all, are complicating the
negotiations in an attempt to water down or kill
the treaty. You can help by sending a strong
message that you support a treaty that helps the
blind and print disabled get access to more
