[Nfbf-l] A Warning

Marion,

Over the past several years you have voiced your dissatisfaction with the
leadership of the NFBF in its various incarnations, making it very clear,
from time to time that you wished to see some or all of us voted out and
replaced.

We have been vary tolerant of your complaints, allegations, and implications
over the years, but your recent postings on NFBF-L and other NFB of Florida
e-mail lists have exceeded the bounds of our patience.

There is scarcely no greater advocate for freedom of expression than I.
However, the NFB and NFBF e-mail lists were never conceived as wide-open,
unregulated forums for attacks, negativity, and self-serving diatribes
against our affiliate. You have attacked not only the board but our
affiliate, and this is an insult to all of those members, on and off the
board, who have worked and continue to work so hard to accomplish the
mission and goals of the Federation.

I am not going to address your attacks - we have tried that in the past to
little or no avail. We have much business to attend to, including the
hosting of four NFB national conventions over the next seven-and-a-half
hears. There is simply no time or place - nor has their ever been - for this
kind of conduct, which is unbecoming a Federation member. It appears that
your incendiary and derogatory comments may have cost us two members, and
who knows how many others might have had their opinion of the NFBF lowered a
bit, by the fact that we allow such activity on e-mail lists which were
created to serve the cause of the organization?

I am writing to warn you that any more such negative posts by you to any NFB
listserv will result in your removal from all NFB of Florida e-mail lists,
and possibly other nfbnet.org lists as well. Other action may also be
necessary.

This warning is not sent lightly. It is sent with the prior approval and
encouragement of the NFBF Board of Directors. Please conduct yourself
accordingly.

Sincerely

Dan Hicks, President

National Federation of the Blind of Florida

Moderator NFBF-L and NFBF-Leaders
