Dear Colleague,

 

RFB&D is now able to offer free, first-year memberships to eligible students
who can take advantage of the downloadable digital audiobooks.  These
memberships are funded through the U. S. Department of Education and various
private donors.

 

The following conditions and procedures apply to these no-cost memberships: 

1.	To utilize the AudioAccess downloadable audiobooks, the following
technology needs to be available:  a computer with either Windows XP or
Vista and Windows Media Player, a high-speed Internet connection, and a
valid

e-mail address.  Once an audiobook is downloaded, a member will then have
the option of syncing the files from Windows Media Player into a compatible
MP3 player.

2.	Students must be registered through the www.rfbd.org online
registration system but will still need to have a disability certification
form completed, signed, and forwarded to RFB&D Member Services in Princeton.
3.	AudioAccess-only members will not be able to order the AudioPlus CD
versions of the audiobooks.  The free memberships provide access only to the
downloadable format.

 

See attached Fact Sheet and Parent Letter for more details.  Although some
students will not have the technology or ability to access the download
format of the recordings, for certain students this is a wonderful
opportunity, especially if the students are already using audiobooks at
school and/or at home.
