[Nfbf-l] Newsline changes

Marion and all,
The recent elimination of some of Newsline local access phone numbers is a disconnection by the service providers. We are not the only state affected by this. There are six other states experiencing this as well. The service providers have a contract with National not the state's individually. National is working to provide some relief if not a solution. I'll keep everyone posted.
And again, in case someone missed the toll-free number, which was included in my original message announcing the changes, it is 1-888-882-1629.
Thanks,
Sabrina Deaton, Chair
NFB-NEWSLINE, Florida

Sabrina,
There have been a couple of explanations floated as to why the numbers
were eliminated. Can you give us the real reason? Was it a matter of funding
or is it service discontinuation on the part of the provider? If it is
funding, what can we do about this? If it is because of the service
provider, are we looking for new providers?

Marion
