One thing is for certain, Sherrill, you will have a wonderful weekend
knowing that you have been accepted into the October class at the Seeing
Eye. I am just so very happy for you and am so glad you called me to share
the good news. I'll miss both you and Mary at the leadership seminar but
we'll be on for Washington. 

Be sure to send me your telephone number when you get settled. Everyone has
their own phone there and there are no roommates. No dog will ever replace
your Mary but your new guide will have special gifts and a certain
personality that will endear you to him/her very soon. I always remember
that my guide dogs are just as different as my three children and that
thought helps me in making that transition.

Hi everyone,

As most of you know, I lost my dear guide dog Merry about 7 weeks ago
unexpectedly to bone cancer.  She brought joy to all who loved her, and I
still miss her very much.  But I have good news to share!  I will be going
to the Seeing Eye in Morristown, New Jersey, on October 24, returning on
Nov. 12.  I am impressed with how quickly the school was able to get me into
a class.  No snow and ice for this girl!!  Just advised to take rain boots,
so it's off to Target.

Seeing Eye has WIFI, plus a tech center with 7 computer stations, all with
JAWS.  So if I want to, I can at least find out what all of you guys are up
to (smile.)
