The consumers in Nebraska worked for over six years to build the political understanding of why a separate agency for the blind should be established.  The blind organizations worked together on it and put a lot of time and energy into the work.

I have attached the state law which established us as a Commission.  Also attached are some documents about the value of separate agencies for the blind.  I hope these are helpful.  I am copying Carlos Servan, who is my Deputy Director and also is legislative chair for the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska.  He may have some additional ideas to share with you.

Dear Mam, My name is RJ, and I'm a consumer with our rehab agency in my state. Their's a man in our state who wants to lump all disabilities together. Here's a copy of his proposal. However, I'm doing my own proposal The blindness organizations want a sepperate comission for the blind. How did you guys mannage to get your state to give you what you wanted? RJ
