It's great that so many blindness organizations are using Facebook. But are
they shoehorning themselves into the system with sighted assistance?

Kathy,

The amount of e-mails you receive is in direct relation to the comments that
you make. For example, let's
say I post something about the Florida Vision Summit, you comment. The
resulting e-mails that will show
up in your box will be other people's comments. There is also a 'like'
button. If you click on that because
you like something someone says, you will also receive the resulting
comments in your e-mail box. So, if
you are pretty selective with your comments, you shouldn't get too many
e-mails. You may also wish to
create a separate e-mail account just for facebook as to not overload your
main e-mail account.

Did you create a facebook account and password? The sign in is your e-mail
address, but you can only use
the same password if you have already created your facebook account. If Gina
is not available, just give me
a call when you have time and I will walk you through it. 904-777-5976

There are many disability advocacy groups on facebook including FND,
Advocacy Florida, Lighthouse Big Bend,
Lighthouse Palm Beach, Accessible Travelguide, Braille Institute, FSDB,
Florida Watchdog, Foundation for Blind
Children, IDEA Money Watch, Lighthouse Central Florida, National Braille
Press, No Barriers USA, Professional
Development and Research Institute on Blindness, Hadley School for the
Blind, and of course, my favorite is Florida
Organization of Parents of Blind Children group.

The advantage being that as you scroll through your newsfeed, you can
quickly see what everyone us up to.

If anyone has any questions at all, please feel free to give me a call. I
have heard that it is easier for a blind person
to use facebook on a mobile device as it cuts out all the graphics.

Gina, I have never used Facebook because my daughters tell me that I will
et tuns of unwanted e-mails and I already have too many. Is their a way to
void this from happening? I did try to sign in but the site would not
ccept my password. Don't know why this is as I do not remember ever having
one this before.
Help please?
Kathy

It's pretty accessible for me. I use Facebook on a daily basis, with very
ew limitations.

Thanks Gina. We're glad to have you as a fan. Get yours up and I'll
 repay the favor!
I can't take all the credit though, my friend is one of the leading
authorities on Internet marketing and social media and she set it up
 for me.
It's not what you know but who you know. LOL!

Okay, I am now a fan of the Daytona Beach Chapter.
Looks like you've been working on it since yesterday.
We have talked about doing this with the Jacksonville Chapter.
Hopefully, we'll get it done soon.
