I am forwarding this to our list serve so as many as possible can respond  
with information about braille literacy. Bruce , the bottom line without 
being  able to read braille a blind person is illiterate.

In the past six months or more, I have received multiple emails  about the 
importance of braille literacy.
It was brought up at Lighthouse of Collier's last board meeting as a  
report from the Vision Summit and was met with resistance from a couple of  
visually impaired board members. Who maintain that braille is no longer  being 
used and should not be a priority.
Unfortunately I have not saved any of the past emails. If you have any  of 
these please send them to me so I can forward to the appropriate people  at 
the LOC.
