Hello Sherill,

I agree with you completely.  I think ROP is caused by just being born too 
early for the retinas to develop properly.  They are one of the last parts 
of the body to develop  between 31 and 38 weeks and being born prematurely 
IS the cause.

I was born in 1953 and I have ROP.  when the connection to oxygen was made 
they stopped giving oxygen to premature babies and ROP decreased 
dramatically.  What they don't say is that infant mortality and brain damage 
soared.

All things considered, I am glad this happened after I was born and not 
before or I might not be here.
