Hi Holly,

Yes, the car comparison is a good one. One thing I describe to people is
that my guide dog is like a car, I am not a passenger, I am the driver. I
tell her where to go and she goes there. So many people think the dog does
all the work and I just go along for the ride.

I think that I think farther ahead using a guide dog then I did with a cane.
I do think more in 3D with her. I do have a great sense of direction and I
don't go any where just because she wants to go there.

I have a good memory of places and so does my dog. I attended two
conferences two years in a row at the same hotel. Just out of curiosity I
asked my dog to 'find the Dorr' at the hotel and she found the room where we
had stayed the year before. Pretty smart girl.

One difference between my dog and a car, when I give her a bath she doesn't
hold still. <GRIN>

JODY
