Subject: [Nfbf-l] News about the NFBF Convention

Fellow NFBF Members,

Today Gloria, Dwight, and I met via conference call with the management of
the International Palms Resort, the hotel where we will be holding our 2010
state convention, to work out differences regarding the rates as the hotel.

As many of you know and have posted about, some people have called the hotel
to make reservations and have been offered rates at $75.00 plus tax per
night and below. The members of the NFBF Board have not been pleased about
that, since, when we signed our contract in early 2009, we were told that
the rate we were offered - $82.00 plus tax per night - was the best
available. And, to be fair, at that time, it probably was. Much has happened
with the economy and the hospitality industry since that time.

It took a coupe of additional phone calls, but what has been worked out is a
flat convention rate of $69.00 plus tax per night for convention rooms.
Rooms which have already been booked at a rate lower than $69.00 plus tax
will still count in our room block requirement, but we know there won't be
many of these. The board has approved this plan, so we will sign the
addendum to the contract, as soon as it arrives, making it so.

Given the fact that we use a lot of space at the hotel and a lot of its
resources, I think this is a very fair compromise for all concerned.

Dan
