Subject: [SIGHTLESSMT] OT: Newsweek and Reader's digest

If anyone is interested in audio versions of Newsweek or Reader's Digest,
you can sign up at APH and download the magazines. I just downloaded
Reader's Digest. I don't think Newsweek is available quite yet, but should
be soon. You have to unzip the file, like you do with BARD downloads. You
also have to have a digital player from NLS or an authorized player on which
to play the magazines. They will not play on an MP3 player or the computer.
Here is the list message with the website if anyone wants to sign up.

Hi list:
American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is indeed now offering
downloadable magazines from its Web site for those with BARD authorized
players. The
signup process is pretty straight forward--all you need to do is to go to
the following address:
http://tech.aph.org/mags
And you can set up a username and password. All they require is your
contact information.
It was pretty easy--I signed up this morning and had my first issue of
Readers Digest in minutes.
They only have one issue right now--the December/January issue of Readers
Digest, but, I imagine we'll see Newsweek in a few days.
Hope this helps.
