When it comes right down to it, many experiences that we have with people is
influenced most by the misunderstandings, prejudices and misconceptions of
each individual person we meet.

I had two opposite experiences with Southwest ground personel. The first
flight I requested an escort to walk with me from the check in desk to the
gate. The person that they assigned was prompt, helpful and we had a very
nice conversation. The second experience, the person was late leaving six
of the disabled passengers stranted at the front waiting area. When he did
show up he grabbed the arms of two wheelchairs of two passengers and he
walked off. He left me and several friends of the people in wheelchairs
behind. I ended up following the friends and finding our own way. I
contacted Southwest to compliment the first person and comment on the second
and the airline was so upset they sent me a $50 gift card which is so
typical of southwest.

Now I don't even bother asking for an escort, I know the airport layout and
I just show up early enough to find my gate myself. Besides, I travel with
a guide dog and she always invites conversations with people and then I ask
the people for directions. Last flight I ended up on the same flight with
the lady and we just hit if off traveling together.
