Workforce Central Florida contracts will fund digital media and network
cyber security training for displaced workers.

Seminole State College of Florida has received contracts totaling $345,000
from Workforce Central Florida to provide free training in network cyber
security, digital media and medical coding.

"Seminole State is proud to partner with Workforce Central Florida to help
workers enhance their skills," says Angela Kersenbrock, dean of Career and
Technical Education. "The College is serious about its role in training and
retraining workers, which is crucial to helping people return to work in
this challenging economy."

The College is currently recruiting workers who have been displaced from the
fields of networking and digital media. Cyber security topics will include
analyzing system threats and risks, developing protected systems and
conducting security audits. The digital media training will include building
Web pages, forms and tables; creating online advertising campaigns; and
using HTML5 and CSS3 for mobile deployment.

Both classes run from February to May. Registration ends Feb. 14.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements based on the Workforce
Innovation Act. To find out if you're eligible, contact Betty Maldonado,
project manager with Seminole State's IT, Digital Media and Networking
Department, or call her at 407.708.2490.

In addition to training displaced workers, Seminole State has contracted
with Workforce Central Florida to offer tuition scholarships to students
currently enrolled in the College's Medical Coding/Billing program.

Seminole State College focuses on creating and providing up-to-date training
for high-skill, high-wage workers in industries that are critical to
sustaining and growing Florida's diverse economy. Seminole State launched
the digital media training program in February 2010 with a class of 17
students. Read about that class online.
